Welcome to the JLM Foundation's website. In 1971, President Richard Nixon declared the "War on Cancer," breathing life into our fight by soldiering the National Cancer Act that same year. Since then, we have faced this monster with intense fervor, hoping to stave off its ravenous appetite having made incredible strides in medical technology, treatment of specific forms of cancer and cancer research. Yet, despite the significant progress that we've made, cancer continues to be one of the major causes of death nearly 40 years after this battle began.

Cancer in its insidiousness impacts 1 out of every 4 Americans, and it touches 1 out of every 3 American homes. The JLM Foundation’s mission is to help lessen those statistics by increasing the level of awareness as it relates to the early detection and screening of cancer. We know that education is the most powerful component of our mission. And though the JLM Foundation is a grassroots organization, we are dedicated to being a congruent member of the cancer fighting community, having joined forces with great organizations like the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the American Cancer Society, and StandUp2Cancer.

Know that the greatest resource that this fight has, are its grassroots organizations and community activists, so please consider attaching yourself to one of the national efforts taking place. The power of the movement against cancer can only happen with the increased participation of each and every citizen. Nothing is more imperative.
